flowersThe various and expensive luxurious perfumes that we are using right now and making us uniquely fragrant all day everyday have its roots down to the simple offering of mother nature.  It cannot  be imagined that an expensive small bottle of perfume containing fragrant liquid has the basic ingredient that can just be found in the wilds – and for free, most of the time.  We are talking here about the basic “ingredient” of a perfume – the flowers.  Flowers are considered to be the staple composition of most of the perfumes we are using right now.  The oil extracted from the flowers is basically the one used as the main “ingredient” in making perfume. These oils are extracted usually through distillation.

Not all flowers, however, are used for perfumes. There are just some perfumes utilized for such purpose basically because it possesses the requirements needed for a perfect fragrant.  And since there are various fragrances of flowers because of its wide diversity, many different kinds of fragrance are produced.   Accordingly, the fragrances of the flowers are caused by the climate of the place which it is grown as well as the kind of soil where it inhabits.  Among the popular flowers used for the production of perfumes due to its strong and unique fragrance are roses, lavender, magnolia, jasmine, lilies, violets, chamomile and rosemary.

Meanwhile, roses are the most commonly used flowers in making perfumes. The extracted rose oil is known for its strong fragrance that last longer than other flower oils.  The smell of rose perfume is distinct – so distinct that just a sniff of it, one will know right away that such is a rose perfume. This is commonly used for women perfumes. Furthermore, the rose fragrance of a perfume is considered by many as elegant and attractive by men.  Among perfume brands that have a wide array of different rose perfume fragrances are Bulgari, Sonia Rykiel, Avon Products, Christian Dior, and Lancome.

Another flower that got what it takes to be the basis of a perfume is the lavender.  The sweet and cool fragrance of lavender makes it a top list among teenagers and those who are young at heart. Lavender oil extracts are said to be relaxing and playful at the same time.  The smell usually connotes youthfulness and carefree. Others claimed that the smell of lavender oil has some kind of a therapeutic and relaxing aura. Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Puig are just some of the perfume brands that have distinct lavender perfumes.  Another floral fragrant famous among women is the magnolia scent perfume. Just like other floral scents, magnolia perfume embodies the relaxing and crisp smell of forest. It lasts long just like the rose scent.  Among perfume brands that are famous for its nice magnolia perfumes are Revlon and Yves Rocher.

Jasmine floral perfumes are also famous among women because of its fruity floral smell. According to some women, the jasmine smell is simple yet sultry. Others describe the smell as a combination of earth, crisp wood and fruit candy.  The jasmine-based perfumes are known also for its sharp smell yet not irritating to the nose.  The musky aura of a jasmine scent makes it very appealing among women consumers.  Perfume brands that have famous jasmine fragrances are L’Orientaliste, Bulgari and Estée Lauder.

There are still many perfume brands that possess unique and breath-taking floral scents. Its prices can be so fancy, and for some, it can be impractical given with the ongoing global financial crisis. In hindsight, it is best to plant your own favorite sweet smelling flower in your garden and then study how to produce oil perfume out from that flower.  In this way, you are not just learning a big deal of skill, but you are also able to save big bucks from buying those expensive perfumes.

Tradition of Giving Flowers: Past and Present

Did you remember when you were still young you used to clasp a pretty flower near your chest in the hope to surprise your mother when she comes back after work? The smile on her face gives us joy even though she knew that the flower we gave her was just picked up from your grandmother’s most valued garden. From this time on, the tradition of giving flowers to our family, friends and loved ones have been carried on until our adult years.

giveflowerNobody ever knew who first started giving flowers and maybe Adam gave Eve a flower way back then. However, it doesn’t matter because we give flowers or have a flower delivery to symbolize almost every occasion like Mother’s day and Valentine ’s Day, birthday celebrations, prom nights, first romantic date, weddings, anniversaries, having a baby or losing a loved one. We never ran out of reasons to give flowers like if our best friend is feeling low, we try to cheer him/her up with a bunch of flowers. Furthermore, we give flowers to show support and appreciation, to say I love you, Thank you, I care, I remember you, I’m thinking of you, I’m sorry, Get Well Soon or simply for no reason at all.

In the past, men usually give flowers to women even without any special events. However, today, the art of giving flowers seem to be put on the back burner. A lot of us think that giving out flowers is total impracticality due to its high cost and considered an unnecessary luxury since it will only last a couple of days to a week. We get the impression that money can be better spent on an unforgettable dinner or material things like jewelry, dress, shoes, books or a mobile phone rather than splurging it on flowers. However, what we don’t understand is that no amount of material object can ever replace the act of giving flowers to our loved ones. It is true that flowers don’t last long because they quickly wither. However; flowers have this peculiarity of making any woman feel special than any material gadgets or device possess. Besides, we rarely give flowers so why dwell on the expense and impracticality issues?

The biggest holidays wherein flower shops greatly profit is on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s day. So, if you have planned for a special dinner date, why not compound it with a bouquet of flowers? You’ll see that it will make your girl feel extra special and your date even more memorable. Your mom will even appreciate the thought of you bringing flowers if you planned to drop by her house. Gone are the days that only women receive flowers because it’s now quite acceptable to give your dad or your special male loved one’s flowers of masculine blooms as they are available nowadays.

Sometimes the best gift is a surprise! An unexpected bouquet of flowers can lift somebody up or be a sweet reminder to your special someone that you care and love them. And the mere fact that we rarely receive flowers makes the surprise even more exciting.

Unfortunately, in reality, we fail to appreciate the romantic value of giving flowers because we perceive it as something that can easily be done at the very last minute, without much ingenuity or thought. We see it as a pattern of gesture that is repeatedly done over and over again that is why the excitement of expecting something new is all gone. For instance, giving flowers on Valentine’s Day is now being casually given just for the sake of the occasion. It shouldn’t be this way. It is never an excuse to say that you weren’t able to give flowers because you couldn’t find any, or you were very busy. There are loads of flower shops online for your convenience which you can choose and buy just like you are in a flower shop plus it can be delivered to a particular destination may it be miles apart. Florists even offer us a wide variety of options to make our flowers more impressive such as accompanying the bouquet of flowers with a stuff toy. Chocolates, fruits, wine or a simple token will very well go along with your flowers.

Always remember that giving flowers is not an everyday thing to do, and it is not always every day that we get the chance to express ourselves through flowers.

flower_bloomMaking your flowers bloom has a lot of things to consider. We always ask ourselves as to when will a flower bloom and if there is an easy way. However, none has the answer to it yet since it all depends on the diversity of the flower and the timing as well. Other factors that can affect the blooming of the flowers are the sun, wind, water, type of soil, temperature or climate, location and the way you take care of the flowers.

Aspects that could affect the blooming of flowers:

1.         If there would be too little rain then it will give a poor climate. If there would also be too much rain, the flowers could possibly rot or be washed away. Therefore, if there will be rain showers, which are too early or too late in the season then it may not help the blooming of flowers.

2.         Temperature is also significant since warm days are a good sign of a full bloom to come. However, the flowers may dry out if the sun gets too hot and affects the way flowers bloom in a very cold temperature.

If one day you opened the door to the most excellent flower delivery of your life, you can keep your flowers blooming longer just days as you received them by making your own preservatives. Major ingredients include citric acid (acidifies), sugar (energy provider), and bleach (for the growth of bacteria). You will be surprised that the ingredients are just in your kitchen. Some suggestions would be:

1.         With one vase of water, place one quarter cup clear carbonated beverage.

2.         With one vase of water, place one tablespoon sugar, two tablespoons lemon juice, and one quarter teaspoon bleach.

3.         With one vase of water, place two tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of white vinegar.

4.         With one vase of water, you can use 50 percent warm water, 50 percent Sprite or 7UP and adding one and a half teaspoons of bleach.

Keeping your flowers always blooming also requires regular maintenance, so they can look and perform at their best. You also need to rejuvenate your flowers depending on its kind. Getting to know your plants and flowers very well will also help you improve the capability of your flowers to bloom. So take time on getting information as to what best suit to your flowers.
